Description
The MELD (Model for End-Stage Liver Disease) score is calculated on the basis of the serum bilirubin and creatinine concentrations and the international normalized ratio for the prothrombin time. In addition to the MELD score, the serum sodium concentration has been recognized as an important prognostic factor in patients with liver cirrhosis. The MELDNa score combines the MELD score with a measure of the serum sodium concentration. Reference: Kim, W. R., Biggins, S. W., Kremers, W. K., Wiesner, R. H., Kamath, P. S., Benson, J.
